The OIly book describes the procedure with bright colorful images. The parentreads the book to the child. The doll has six different facial expressions and carries amedical bag filled with instruments. These instruments allow the child and parent to
practice some of the tests on his/her doll prior to the procedure. This helps the child to grasp a basic
a basic understanding of their upcoming hospital visit. The child can use the doll to help express his feelings after the procedure by using the facial expressions which can help the child communicate feelings to their parents and to
the hospital staff. Using the doll, medical instruments and the book gives the child several different opportunities to express their feelings. The child also feels like an active participant in the procedure.
